And Then She Was Six

Dear Moo,

I've been trying to weed through the jungle that is my emotions.  I knew this day was coming because it comes every year, but still I feel unprepared.  My little girl is growing up.  Fast!  It drives and drives me crazy that I can't slow time down to better savor these years before you hit the teenage ones followed by adulthood.

What I can say is that I'm oh so proud to your mommy!!  Never doubt that for a minute.   I wouldn't trade you for anything or anyone in the world.  Six years ago today, you turned my world from upside down to right side up.  You gave my life meaning and purpose.

Watching you grow and come into your own thus far has been one of the greatest blessings I've gotten from God.  I love your compassionate spirit and your humble, but confident nature.  I love that you always strive to see the good in everyone even if when there's not much good to see.  I love that you don't let things keep you down for long periods of time.

I live for your smile because it warms heart.  You're the bestest big sister JJ could ever ask for.  Your patience and fierce love for him is beyond amazing.  It grows daily.  My hope that you'll always look out for him and any other future siblings you may have, especially in years after I'm gone.

I promised I wouldn't cry as I wrote this, but I can't help it.  You're so awesome and wonderfully YOU!  You started in the womb and now you're six!  HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!

Love,
Mommy
