So, we have about two weeks before Moo's preschool screening. I'm a little worried that she's going to test out of Pre-k. That would be a good thing if they were going to push her own to kindergarten but they don't do that because her birthday comes 4 months after the age deadline. I've been thinking about putting her on a homeschooling schedule if she does and today we had our first rough run through!
I will admit it was a challenge because I had to chase after and take breaks to entertain JJ but I am thankful to say it went well for the most part. And my playgroup actually has recess dates at one of the local parks not too far from us. So, we'll make it work as Tim Gun would say in this situation.
I am thankful that my speech therapy exercises with JJ are going well. He's making the effort to try to say words. I've replaced his Mickey Mouse time with watching My Baby Can Read and videos about letters and how to sound them out. And it's all free thanks to YouTube. I'll be doing a post soon with links to the channels we like. I also make more of an effort to not give him things until he tries to ask for them using sound instead of just pointing at them.
These last few weeks I am thankful that I have taken the time to really focus on me, myself and I. I feel like I've been putting other people first so much that I forgot to take my needs and I felt like I was about to spiral into a dark cloud. I decided to turn off my phone and dial back on my social media for about a month and take time to smell the roses and be present in my family life at home more. A few people are not too pleased with this choice but I did this for me and not them. We all need a break every so often from the outside world.
I feel refreshed and have had the opportunity to refocus on some things. It's been nice to be sort of MIA.

YouTube is indeed a great resource for so many free educational videos. It's a part of my baby's night time winding down routine. I'm thankful for my daughter's great health. After some rough months with allergies, ear infection and viruses, for the past several months she has been in excellent health! I've learned what to do in regards to her allergies, and that seems to help her with everything.
ReplyDeleteA yearly flu shot is a must for her also. But there's not much that can be done against so many other illnesses, and it's the worst feeling in the world when she is even the least bit sick.
Glad that your daughter is doing well. I know all about managing allergies in kids.
DeleteI love the My Baby Can Read videos! They really work! I understand about testing out of pre-k, but not being able to start Kindergarten because of her age/birthday. My daughter tested out. I ended up putting her in a daycare/preschool while I worked. :)

DeleteAwwww glad she is learning though no matter how many times you have to stop I know your pain I had to do it when my son was 3 it was a pain but we learned something. I am thankful for being able to pay my bills its hard but its done some people can't and I was there so I just have to thank God we made it through another two weeks
ReplyDeleteI feel you about being able to pay bills. This economy is still rough and there are still a lot of people who aren't able to make ends meet. I'm always giving God thanks for my husband's job and my being able to make side money freelancing.

nine now and still receiving services. I am thankful for his therapist. She's patient, funny and
totally gets him! God Bless.
I've thought about it and will discuss it with his pediatrician soon. I definitely think that we're on the right track though.
DeleteI feel you on the PreK thing. My daughter turns 3 in a couple weeks and we had to make the decision to homeschool until she's old enough for school. I can also relate to giving yourself some time to focus on yourself. I've been trying to do that lately. Today I am thankful for simplicity. My life isn't over complicated or stressful and I am thankful for that.
