Game On

I was talking with my bestie Thursday night and we started talking about weddings.  Her wedding to be exact.  And she drops the bomb on me that they've decided that they want to get married in March.  No, not March 2012, but this March.  As in two months and a few weeks away!

I thought I would have at least four months before I had to be special event ready bodywise.  So, much for wishful thinking.  Looks like it's game on as far as shedding these extra pounds.  I gotta get it right and get it tight for these wedding photos.  Not to mention, I don't want to be girdled up so tight I can't cut a rug on the dance floor.

I'm not saying I'm on Usher or Chris Brown's dance level, but I can crank dat and Superman it out. LOL.  Well, I recently took on a freelance position away from home. So, that means I won't be able to hit gym.  Yes, another month of my share of the gym membership wasted. (Sorry honey)  So, the dilemma becomes how do I shed these extra pounds?

If I had access to FiTv, I would just turn on some Gilead Total Body and get busy.  But I don't.  So, to all of you fitness gurus and workout at home readers:

What is your workout at home routine or tips?

  1. If you're just wanting to tone up I've gotten results with Jillian Michaels' DVDs specifically 6 week 6 pack and 30 day shred. Both dvds were under $7 at Target and Walmart. To shed pounds though I run, track my food on my fitness pal making sure I don't go over my calorie limit, and I've also been doing workouts on the wii & xbox kinnect. Drink plenty of water, get lots of sleep, and fill up with tons of veggies and fruits. Hope that helps!

    1. Yes, it does help. Thanks! I will have to stop by Walmart and pick up those DVDs. And I'm getting back to drinking more water. The holidays messed me up and had me drinking nothing but punches and soda.

    1. YouTube is a great idea! Thanks. And I would have to start off skipping because I haven't ran since my high school track days.

  3. Yea, I would definitely say YouTube for some ideas! I also don't mind looking up exercises from some fitness magazines for ideas (online of course) and try to incorporate them throughout the day.

  4. I recently discovered netflix! I don't know if you have a sub but they have some decent workouts on there! Although old, they do the job!

  5. LOL...girl, you're too funny! I just imagined you dancing to Usher and Soulja Boy. I do Turbo Jam workout DVDs from Beach Body: http://www.beachbody.com/product/fitness_programs/turbo-jam.do

It really helped me a lot. It's fun, dancing and kickboxing. Good luck to you in the next couple of months!

  6. Honestly I have a hard time motivating myself to work out at home. But it helps that you have a deadline. I would suggest some weight lifting. It burns calories longer than cardio b/c the more muscle you have, the more calories you burn. You should be able to find a DVD to assist with that.

  7. Not sure if you have access to an indoor pool, but swimming is a great way to get in shape. When I learned to swim a couple of years ago, I really saw my body take a more defined and lean shape. Now I try to swim once a week, in addition to weight lifting at home or the gym. I use DVDs sometimes and other times I work from the basics that I have learned.
    Stay motivated and good luck!
