Ultimate Vacation Getaway!!

I am well overdue for a vacation.  I can't even remember the last time I went on a vacation.  And when I say vacation, I'm not talking about some place in state that almost everybody has been to.  I'm talking about a real vacation.  Some place new, wonderful, exotic, warm...  I could go on and on.

Can you believe to my husband and I have been together six years officially and we have NEVER been on a vacation together?!!  It's sad I know, but work schedules and other issues always seemed to get in the way.  And this summer I'll be grounded until Baby JJ arrives.  After my delivery I still won't be in vacation ready state because there's that dreaded recovery time physically.  Plus, I've been getting a lot of crap from my family about me wanting to take a newborn out of the country.

Honestly, I don't see what the big deal is.  I've been a mommy before and I know how rough it can be.  However, that's exactly why a cruise would be perfect.  I could have some luxurious escape time.  Anyways, by this time next year Baby JJ will be almost one and Moo will be 3.  I'm determined that nothing is going to stop me from taking my ultimate vacation to the Cove Atlantis!!  Check out that view below:

I think that the hubby and I will have more than earned this vacation and with God willing we are going to take it.  This place has everything from spas, to adult only pool areas, shopping, breath-taking sights and more!!  I know that this means we are going to have to do some serious savings because I want to do some serious shopping.  However, when it comes to booking, I'm leaving this in the hands of the trusty people from Orbitz to help us find the right package deal.  Yes, you can save hundreds on vacation spots outside the US by using travel sites like Orbitz.  The more money you save on the travel, the more money you can spend on shopping and eating!!

When was the last time you and your family went on vacation?

  2. @Debbie-Yes, it does. That is one of reasons I picked it as my ultimate vacation spot.

  3. Our last family vacation was in summer of 2009. We went to Disney World and we were gone for 10 days. That was our first "official" vacation. We felt so grown up and BROKE!

Every fall as a couple we take a weekend getaway to the mountains and stay in a cabin with a few other couples. We are actually plannin an us trip for sometime this summer. I feel you, I so want to find my way to Atlantis. Maybe we will see you all there next summer because that is when we plan to go!

  4. @Mimi-That would be awesome! We could leave the men to babysit and go off for moms' spa day. My mind is already spinning with all the fun I want to have there.

  6. I've actually been to Atlantis and it is JUST as nice as the pictures show! But that was with my friends before senior year of undergrad. The Mr and I went to Puerto Rico to get married in 2008 and Canada right before we found out we were having Chunks. I've gotten used to running all around and now we haven't gone anywhere since our wedding but hopefully we'll make it somewhere this summer. Good Luck!

  7. @Lisa-The hubby and I haven't been kid free is almost 3 years now.

@NY State of Mom-Wow, wedding in Puerto Rico? That must have been nice. Getting ideas for my first wedding anniversary that is coming up.

  8. We haven't done a family trip with Baby yet but it will probably be a trip to Kenya and Uganda to visit husband's relatives. That's 2 planes and about 16 hours in the air. I hope all goes well.

Our last trip together was Puerto Rico for Christmas 2009. I found out I was pregnant days before we left. My plan of drinking alcoholic umbrella drinks by the water was put on hold. I enjoyed the great weather though.

I love to travel and can't wait to get back to it. I just hope Baby enjoys traveling as much as we do.

  9. @MamaViolet-I feel so like an inexperienced traveler because I haven't been anywhere outside of the US and everybody seems to have at least been to Puerto Rico or somewhere. Looking forward to Atlantis.

  10. You said it. I sooo need a vacation too. I traveled so much on vacations when I was little but now that I'm an adult, its just not in my work load to be able to get away.
I hope you are able to. Vacations are something we all need.

  12. One thing that I won't compromise on is a vacation. I love to travel and we all need to get away once in a while. So I say... GO for it! PLUS... I've been to Atlantis on Paradise Island, Bahamas... it is breathtakingly amazing. You feel like you are in some alternate universe or something. It's so surreal -- like the perfect little world (hence the name Paradise Island). You guys would LOVE it. I didn't have Aiden when I went, but from what I remember, it was very family-friendly.
